I have started this Blog to help others by documenting my incredible weight loss journey. I will share recipes, tips and tricks along the way. Hope I can help and inspire. If I can do it as the busy Mom of 3 busy, beautiful boys, you can do it also.

Weighing In
Since I started on February 25, 2012 I have currently lost 17lbs. I will keep you up-dated...... :)
The Beginning
Wow, my first post. I guess I should start from the beginning. Ok, well not truly the beginning, but the beginning of my current weight loss journey. This started on the 25th of February 2012, when I went to see D. Gary Young the founder of a great company called Young Living. He was so inspiring and really made me feel like this was all possible for me. What I did not expect was the beautiful journey I would be lead to. So the next day after seeing D. Gary Young I started weight loss program called Slique Kit. This really did work well for me for the first few months and was the jump start that I needed.
I feel like God laid these steeping stones in my path. Not sure completely sure why, but only time will tell. So my next turn of events was when my Aunt Lynne was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. Then in the midst of this terrible news 2 of my friends stared talking to me about this class they were taking called Food for Life. So I get the book that they are using in class called The Cancer Survivors Guide, by Dr. Neal Barnard. I am now feeling like all of this information has been laid at my fingertips not only for my weight loss journey but also so that I may help my Aunt through her breast cancer journey. So I got that book and read it in 3 days (you have to also know that I am not a reader it would take me a year or so to finish a book). I was just so hungry for this knowledge.
Also going on during my explosion of knowledge is that my 8 year old son Hunter who has ADHD and Touretts is also diagnosed with Disgraphia. So I start doing even more research on how to help him without drugs. And find out how bad High Fructose Corn Syrup is. Now you have to understand that I really thought we ate good, I had always tried to stay away from that stuff. Never realizing how hidden it all was. So I went through every cabinet we had and replaced all of the products that had the High Fructose Corn Syrup. And when I went shopping from then on I would only buy products that DO NOT have it in. Once I was familiar with the products that did not contain this it was much easier. And we started seeing real improvements in all of our children's behavior.
So the next portion of my journey was a talk with my son's teacher and she suggested that maybe a visit to a Chiropractor/Kinesologist may help Hunter. So off we go and he does muscle testing and finds that Hunter has a milk sensitivity. I then bring my other 2 boys, Nevin and Logan and find that they also share this same milk sensitivity. So now here I go again and have to pull out all of the products that contain milk and get rid of what I can. My local food bank really did well with all of these donations.
During all of these appointments and re-learning how to shop and what to buy I read another book called Veganist by Kathy Freston. By this time with all of the knowledge I am gaining I am starting to feel a real pull within myself. Trying to find my way my friend suggests a video called Forks over Knives. I am now convinced that this is my path I need to be on for myself and my family.
Life really is something else. If anyone had ever told me just 4 months ago that I would be a vegan and feel better than I have ever felt in my life I would have told them they were crazy.
My wonderful Husband (Don) and I are now currently taking the Food for Life class that my friend Susan had told me about. We are gaining even more knowledge and Don and I are seeing such great weight loss and for Don he is even getting a better control on his Type 2 Diabetes.
I look forward to helping everyone.
